Juha Suonpää (b. 1963) is a Finnish documentary director and producer renowned for compelling films that examine the complex relationships between humans and the natural world. His most recent documentary, Lynx Man (2023), premiered at CPH:DOX, where it received a Special Mention in the Nordic category. The film garnered international attention and sparked widespread public debate on lynx conservation. Wolfman, one of Suonpää’s earlier works, premiered at Vision du Reél in 2013 and similarly delved into profound emotional connections with wildlife.

In addition to filmmaking, Suonpää is a researcher, published author, experienced visual artist, and an Adjunct Professor of Art, Environmental, and Nature Photography at Tampere University of Applied Sciences. His work blends science and art through nuanced character study, ecological awareness, and a distinctive cinematic style.
